WARMACHINE Mercenaries Exulon Thexus…

The moment I saw this model I fell in love with it. It’s so different from the usual aesthetics that I knew I wanted to paint it the moment I saw him. I wanted to also make him more game friendly so I decided to bend and and place his extra “Doc Ock” arms in such a way so I could still place models next to him. He was great to paint up and enjoyed figuring out how to break up the metallics to keep it interesting between the silver and brass.

mercenaries_cephalyx_exulon_thexusNo I don’t have REACH!

  2. Base coat colors using Vallejo Game Colors & Vallejo Model Air Metallics
  3. Army Painter Dark Tone Ink all over
  4. Painted eyes & rivets

  6. I then varnished with Rust-Oleum Clear Gloss and then Testor’s Dullcote

WARMACHINE Mercenaries Cephalyx Subduer Monstrosity…

My last monstrosity for now is finally done! I always thought this guy was undervalued by most players since he actually has a super long threat range for what seems like a very short ranged weapon. Of course his synergy reaches maximum potential with Exeulon Thexus due to his FEAT and Telekinesis.

mercenaries_cephalyx_monstrosity_subduerGotta net them all!

  1. Touch Tone Automotive Flat Grey Primer
  2. Base coat colors using Vallejo Game Colors & Vallejo Model Air Metallics
  3. Army Painter Soft Tone Ink over flesh & Dark Tone Ink over metal

  5. Bases are comprised of Basecrafts Forest Scatter & Basecrafts Mixed Leaves
  6. I then varnished only with Testors Dullcote since it’s a plastic model

WARMACHINE Mercenaries Cephalyx Dominator…

He just wants to be loved. This solo let’s you play a Mercenary unit with Cephalyx. I usually play Nyss Hunters since they can do double duty as ranged and melee.

WARMACHINE Mercenaries Cephalyx Wrecker Monstrosity…

I really love these models. I did some modding and cut the left arm chain to make it shorter and used hot water to bend them in more to make them more game friendly. I also magnetized the arms and used a rod to make sure the arms would stay in place since the magnets are in circular parts meaning they would rotate easily. Someone did point out that the gauge did look like Pokemon which I never even thought of since that wasn’t my generations thing. I am still debating whether or not I should splatter some blood on the weapons though. What do you think? Am I addicted to Tamiya-X27 red?!

mercenaries_cephalyx_monstrosity_wreckerTwo lumps of sugar please!

WARMACHINE Mercenaries Cephalyx Agitator…

The solos that put Cephalyx into overdrive! These guys are pretty for awesome and buff most of the army with their little INSTIGATION aura which can be pretty amazing. Their baby Doc Oct claws were a little bit of a pain to put on, but they worked out in the end. I experimented doing some minimal glows on their eyes as a way to break out from my usual routine. You gotta mix it up to keep progressing that paint game!

Warmachine Cryx Machine Wraith & Pistol Wraith…

These were a welcome break since they were different from what I usually painted. I also got to try out some new techniques such as glazing. I have been having a lot of fun with them in the Mercenaries Cephalyx Puppet Master contract!

WARMACHINE Mercenaries Cephalyx Warden Monstrosity…

Hey all! I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try something different. I ended up picking up Cephalyx because they generally run mass infantry lists, which I’m not used to at all. It also doesn’t hurt that I love FrankenZombies! I really love these Monstrosity sculpts and tried some new techniques such as glazing on them for fun. Overall I’m pretty happy with how they came out! I also did magnetize all the arms so I can swap out what I need depending on what I want. I’m still deciding on what kind of tufts to put on their bases though.
