Khador Great Bears of Gallowswood…

Ahhhh the Great Bears. Nothing says equalizer against people who run a heavy Warjack/Warbeast list than these guys. Effectively giving you 6 weapon master attacks with Reach, and a awesome MAT…these guy don’t mess around. The problem is getting them to the fight. I personally do love them but I don’t use them all the time in tournaments. If I don’t have a way to screen them against shooty lists then they almost always get decimated against opponents who have faced them before and know what they are capable of.  I finally got around to painting them and it really didn’t take too long since they have such HUGE pieces of armor everywhere. I opted of course to go with bearskins from the woods since that’s my theme for Khador.

A problem a lot of beginners have is figuring out and also remembering who’s who. If you seen that Colossals book then you know they included a name breakdown over silhouettes for the Trollbloods Sons of Bragg to solve this very problem. Here’s a easy way to remember who’s who…

  • Yarovich grants 360 LOS so he’s got no helmet at all to see everywhere better
  • Kolsk grants STEADY so he’s the only one who has a helmet
  • Volkov grants Relentless Charge and is mid-swing with his axe with scalemail

The 3 weapon master amigos. Would you say I have a plethora of attacks?

  1. White P3 Primer
  2. Base coat colors using Vallejo Game Colors
  3. Citadel Badab Black wash all over the miniature
  4. Minimal highlights (studs, rivets, & flesh)
  5. Bases are comprised of Woodland Scenics grass flock & a Autumn Mix Leaf Scatter
  6. Finally I varnish with Rust-oleum Painter’s Touch Gloss Coat (Non-Yellowing & UV Resistant) & then use Army Painter Anti-Shine Matte Varnish
