Infinity N3 Battle Report…

Me and some locals have been grinding out some smaller 150 point games to get use to the rules and the readjust from 2nd edition. Ideally the game is meant to be played at the 300 point level. I decided to take some pics and do a battle report.

YU JING vs ALEPH – 150pts – Scenario: Supremacy (No HVT)

Aleph won the roll and decided to go first. As the second player I got to pick the board side and decided to grab the highest ground with my Terracotta HI armed with a Missile Launcher.

IMG_0001 IMG_0005 IMG_0007 IMG_0009 IMG_0013

My opponent aggressively moved forward using Command Tokens and put Ajax into Suppressive Fire near the middle of the board. He then used a Remote with Sensor to detect a Camo marker I had and revealed it.

IMG_0014

I moved my Guilang Skirmirsher armed with a Boarding Shotgun up against the building to shoot at the Remote while getting shot by Ajax, but the shots missed. The Guilang shot the remote Unconscious but two AROs in response took him down also. I was hoping the impact template would hit his Engineer behind the remote but it fell a bit short.

IMG_0025My opponent left his other Remote with a Smart Missile Launcher in the open so I decided to try to hit it with my own Missile Launcher and got taken down myself. This was a massive loss for me.

IMG_0030I moved my Remote armed with a MK12 to avenge my Terracotta and take down the enemy Remote which it was able to do.

IMG_0036My opponent reveals his TO!

IMG_0023

I decided to go gung ho with my limited pieces and moved my Engineer to try and shoot Ajax down since he was Impetuous which also means he can never gain cover. Unfortunately I was in a negative range band and was only able to hit him once while he took my Engineer down instead. BOOM!

IMG_0040

He moved his TO model up jumping over the terrain and  ARO a shot back while he shot but none of our aims were true.

IMG_0048

He then brought in the big guns and moved Ajax up to finish off my Remote with his dual wielding Combi-Rifle skills. My Remote sadly went down as well.

IMG_0051

He then decided to finish the job and take down my Hacker who was taking pot shots and ARO’s when he could. After my Hacker went down we went into Sudden Death since I had 25% or less of my 150 points left.

Post-game thoughts…

At 150 points you really feel the pain of losing key pieces and that going second can be devastating since you don’t have enough legit models to cover parts of the board. The first player can aggressively move up using multiple Command Tokens with minimal checking. We decided to run it back but swap who went first and I was able to take out several key pieces. We called that game as well since I took out his Remote armed with a Smart Missile Launcher, his TO model, and Ajax. Overall the game is pretty fun but there are a lot of loose ends compared to Warmachine/Hordes. So you definitely have to take a step back and try the game out with a open mind. I think N3 is about 75% there and who knows what will happen when they finally start releasing erratas. On the plus side it’s a low model count skirmish game so it’s not too damaging on the wallet compared to other tabletop games.

Battle Report 122-125 > 15-50pts. Escalation Steamroller Tournament…

It’s been awhile since I have posted a battle report and I really have no idea how many games I have played since the last post, so yeaaa. A new store opened up in Costa Mesa called Mercenary Market which is owned by Chris Kluwe. He is the punter for the American football team the Minnesota Vikings and apparently a avid gamer of all sorts from Video Games to RPG’s to tabletop wargames (I know right?!). They were hosting a interesting format in which all the players (Lieutenants) would be split into 2 teams lead by a General, one being Chris Kluwe and the other being none other than Matt Wilson of Privateer Press! Now the Generals for each tournament round could offer each of their players (Lieutenants) a free boost, re-roll, and a auto command pass check. This made the format SUPERFUN at those critical moments! There would be a final game between Chris and Matt with the best player from each side acting as a personal advisor to their General for their 50 point EPIC BATTLE!

Chris Kluwe, Matt Wilson, & John DeShazer (Organizer)

  • Standard Steam Roller Scenarios (No Flanking Scenarios)
  • Escalation Variant – You only have to stay within Faction (You could change your list every round)
  • Deathclock
  • 4 Rounds
  • Round One – The lieutenants of the generals are scouting out the battlefield in anticipation of the wars to come. These battles are small skirmishes of 15 points and only include battle groups. *Warcaster attachments are not part of battle groups.
The bonus rewarded to the General’s team for winning round one is an additional +2 inch deployment zone.
  • Round Two – The lieutenants are starting to claim valuable positions on the battlefield. This round the lieutenants have 25 points to spend on their armies. The bonus rewarded to the General’s team for winning round 2 is an additional +1 on the to go first roll for every point they beat the other General by. Points are calculated as wins of his lieutenants.
  • Round Three – The lieutenants have bolstered their forces to 35 points. The key battlefield locations are being fought over!
The bonus rewarded to the General’s team for winning round 3 allows them to deploy a wall anywhere in 20 inches of his deployment side.
  • Round Four – The lieutenants have amassed their full forces of 50 points and are battling it out in full scale war!

Game on MOFOS!

ROUND 1 > 15 Points – KHADOR vs KHADOR

#2 Gauntlet (Center Scenario)

  • Harkevich
  • Behemoth
  • Juggernaut

VERSUS

  • Sorscha1
  • Behemoth
  • Juggernaut

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Opponent’s Behemoth wrecking BOTH my warjacks
  • Harkevich living Page 5

This game was pretty back and forth and it came down to 1 roll, but then again doesn’t it always? I was only able to wreck his Juggernaut and I saw a opening for Harkevich to go after Sorscha but I would have to survive a freestrike from Behemoth. I advanced out of melee and took 7 damage…not too bad. I proceeded to take a handcannon shot boosting to hit and damage of course, but she survived with 1 box left! I had 3 focus left so I did the only thing I could do…cast Razorwind LOL! I got the boosted hit and at dice -3 I was able to assassinate her. If Harkevich would’ve failed I’m pretty sure a fully loaded Sorscha would’ve been able to take me out i.e. Freezing Grip, Charge, and Doneskies. We got into a little debate earlier about charging but I didn’t feel like arguing since the Deathclock was very short and could only be paused by a judge. He was confused about “toward” versus “directly toward”. It was still a pretty fun game!

WIN by assassination!!!

ROUND 2 > 25 Points – KHADOR vs KHADOR

#7 Incursion (Dual Scenario)

  • Zevanna Agha, Old Witch & Scrapjack
  • Behemoth
  • Kayazy Asassins (Max Unit) w/UA Underboss
  • Kayazy Elminators
  • Gorman DiWulfe

VERSUS

  • Sorscha2
  • Conquest
  • War Dog
  • Kayazy Elminators
  • Man-o-War Shocktroopers (Min. Unit)
  • Gorman DiWulfe?

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Conquest loving that Warjack Bond
  • Opponent’s War Dog biting a lot of asses
  • Eliminators being awesome as usual
  • Neither of us used our FEATS lol

This was something I was planning on running in the future but not at this point level. Sorscha2’s warjack bond with Conquest is just too sexy. If your opponent can’t destroy it in 1 turn then everything within 2″ of it not immune to cold becomes Stationary. So very awesome indeed since the Conquest does have the most boxes out of all the Colossals. This is hands down my favorite scenario since it’s so dynamic and the way you deploy your army is sooooo key! I feared if the center flag didn’t disappear that the Conquest would just sit between the 2 closer flags and contest both. I knew from playing against Colossals in other games I should focus on the scenario and possible try to get a assassination with my Kayazy party patrol. I basically AOE killed his Eliminators with Behemoth, kept his Conquest busy with a steady diet of assassins, bogged his Man-o-Wars with assassins, and ran my Eliminators to engage Sorscha. Doing this combination made it possible for me to score 3 points on 1 flag to win by scenario. I let my opponent know afterwards that he should’ve trampled his Conquest to sit between the 2 flags and then I would have had to dealt with it instead of ignoring it and keeping it busy. It was his first tournament so I advised him that sometimes it’s just better to focus on the scenario and keep things tied up.

WIN by scenario!!!

ROUND 3 > 35 Points – KHADOR vs MERCENARIES

#14 Incoming (Objective Scenario)

  • Zevanna Agha, Old Witch & Scrapjack
  • Behemoth
  • Gun Carriage
  • Kayazy Asassins (Max Unit) w/UA Underboss
  • Kayazy Elminators
  • Gorman DiWulfe

VERSUS

  • Captain Phinneus Shae (Tier 4)
  • Heavy Warjack
  • Vanguard x 2
  • Sea Dog Crew w/UA Mr.Walls
  • Press Gangers
  • Commodore Cannon & Crew
  • Bosun Grogspar
  • Creb “Doc” Killingsworth
  • First Mate Hawk
  • Lord Joln Rockbottom

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Mercs being Mercs with all their crazy stacked Synergies
  • Opponent quickly destroying my objective with extreme prejudice
  • Old Witch using Avatar of Slaughter & claiming 5 souls for herself
  • First Mate Hawk + Storm Rager=Sexy Hot Death

This was the first time I have every played this scenario and I don’t like it. This it too friendly to those “sit back” kind of armies. I’ve read/heard many other complain about this scenario as well. Anyways I made a slew of mistakes including forgetting to cast my FEAT 2 turns in a row LOL. My opponent even told me after the 1st time “Why didn’t you cast your FEAT?!”. I will blame it on my after lunch coma coupled with only getting 3 hours of sleep…yes that’s it! I even setup a turn with my assassins in many of the back arcs of his models ready for the FEAT so they wouldn’t be able to turn around to attack and then I totally forgot. That cost me the game and my opponent’s First Mate Hawk charged and killed the Old Witch. On a side note I think I could have been able to get a Free Strike with Scrapjack since he had Reach but I forgot that also. Hey this is my 1st time ever using her OK! None the less…ROOKIE moves.

LOSS by assassination!!!

ROUND 4 > 50 Points – KHADOR vs CYGNAR

#14 Incoming (Objective Scenario)

  • Zevanna Agha, Old Witch & Scrapjack
  • Behemoth
  • Juggernaut
  • Gun Carriage
  • Battle Mechaniks
  • Kayazy Asassins (Max Unit) w/UA Underboss
  • Kayazy Elminators
  • Gorman DiWulfe
  • Eiryss, Angel of Retribution
  • Lady Aiyanna & Master Holt

VERSUS

  • Captain E. Dominic Darius & Halfjacks
  • Stormwall
  • Centurion
  • Squire
  • Arcane Tempest Gun Mages w/UA
  • Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team
  • Stormsmith Stormcaller x 3
  • Arlan Strangewayes
  • Journeyman Warcaster
  • Lady Aiyanna & Master Holt
  • Reinholdt

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Stormwall helping to pull off Triangulate
  • Gorman DiWulfe surviving a Lighting Pod
  • Behemoth ALMOST surviving a full Stormwall onslaught
  • Me hating Darius’ Jackhammer spell
  • Opponent’s killing off his own models to kill of my Behemoth
  • Forgetting to pop my FEAT…AGAIN!?!?!?!

Another player popping my Warcaster cherry! I have never played Darius but I know he can repair Warjacks completely so I wasn’t sure if I was really going to focus too much on the Stormwall. I made many mistakes. Many many mistakes. Behemoth didn’t even get to attack in melee at all. I forgot to move my Gun Carriage in a key turn. I forgot to pop my FEAT. I forgot Scrapjack is a Arc Node. Man my brain was really dead. There were two different points where I had a chance of winning. I could’ve ran Scrapjack and cast Gallows setting up a backstrike charge for a couple assassins on his caster or I could’ve simply popped my FEAT which would have stopped his Stormwall from charging Old Witch and I would’ve Deathclocked him. 3 hours sleep…SHUT UP!

LOSS by assassination!!!

And so it begins…

In the end…Chris prevailed and won! YAY MY TEAM!!!

TOURNAMENT SUMMARY…

This was a really really fun tournament format and all 26 players that showed up seemed to have a great time. In between rounds there were General challenges like remembering every players name on their team, singing a made up song, & the losing team of a round having to rock Privateer Press hot pink bandanas. It was a long tournament clocking in around 8-9 hours including lunch but oh so worth it. There are talks about making this a annual thing and if that’s true I could only imagine the next one will be even bigger and better. I want to thank everyone at Mercenary Market, Chris, Matt, and all the players there for making this a really unique and awesome experience!

Battle Report 057-059 > 15-35pts Escalation Steamroller Tournament…

It was a hectic Thanksgiving weekend this year. I had to attend 4 music events in a row and I can’t even remember the last time I’ve done that. Regardless a LGS was having a Escalation Tourney and I had to attend because it sounded like a ton of fun. I have never done a tourney like that so I was really interested.

Your allowed only 1 list and you start at the 15 point level with no character warjacks/beasts. After that you build up onto the original list at the 25 and 35 point games. You can then swap your original warjacks/beasts with a character one if you want at the higher point levels. All games were played using the KILLBOX scenario.

ROUND 1 > 15 Points – KHADOR vs PROTECTORATE OF MENOTH

(14 Points)

  • Vlad1
  • Berserker Heavy Warjack
  • The Great Bears
  • Doom Reavers w/Grey Lord Escort

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Watching more than 50% of my army catch on FIRE! FIRE FIRE!
  • Khador not killing 1 thing LOL!!!

IN SUMMARY…LOSS!!!

Damn that was a lot of fire! I forgot the Light Warjack he was using but it had a ROF 3 and he had a Vassal of Menoth. So my opponent was basically pumping out 4 AOE 3″ fire shots at my army every round with continuous fire for the cherry on top. It hurt really bad especially when running the “Limousine” with Vlad1 and the Doom Reavers. Bad Idea on my part. My caster got assassinated early due to bad placement and me not checking my control area to make sure he wasn’t close enough to be within charging range with all his movement bonuses from the Choir of Menoth and other spells. I should have swapped my Great Bears with some Widowmakers and the Widowmaker Marksman or Kell Bailoch. Next time I will know better. Need ranged attacks!!!

ROUND 2 > 25 points – KHADOR vs SKORNE

(22 Points)

  • Vlad1
  • Berserker Heavy Warjack
  • The Great Bears
  • Doom Reavers w/Grey Lord Escort
  • Widowmakers
  • Widowmaker Marksman Solo
  • Kell Bailoch

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Doom Reavers & Great Bears teaming up to kill of both his Heavy Warbeasts
  • My opponent holding out until it was only his caster left

IN SUMMARY…WIN!!!

My opponent didn’t guess his charge distance right for his Heavy Warbeasts and it cost him dearly. My Doom Reavers and Great Bears dispatched them quickly with minimal losses. His Paingiver Beast Handlers retaliated and were able to take down quite a few of my Doom Reavers. The ANATOMICAL PRECISION ability is pretty bad ass. It’s like like the SNIPER ability but for melee attacks. All my snipers were also able to pick away at his Farrow Brigands while they advanced even when using DIG IN thanks to SIGNS & PORTENTS. I lost quite a lot of units but still had my Berserker to help clean up what I couldn’t hit with ranged combat. This was a pretty fun battle and I really enjoyed learning more about Skorne through combat since I have only played them once before.

ROUND 3 > 35pts – KHADOR vs BLINDWATER CONGREGATION

(35 Points)

  • Vlad1
  • Berserker Heavy Warjack
  • The Great Bears
  • Doom Reavers w/Grey Lord Escort
  • Widowmakers
  • Widowmaker Marksman Solo
  • Kell Bailoch
  • Behemoth Character Heavy Warjack (This is why I was under points in the previous games ;))

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • All the snipers and Behemoth taking out the Blackhide Wrastler before he could even attack
  • Using my Widowmakers as a tarpit unit to stop some Gatormen from getting the alpha strike on my Doom Reavers
  • My opponents use of Gatormen to overwhelm me on both flanks to close in for the assassination
  • Vlad1 surviving several assassination attempts

IN SUMMARY…WIN!!!

My opponent’s caster was Maelok. So since I started a Blindwater Congregation force myself I was expecting the Incorporeal feat with Gatormen assassination attempt at some point. The key thing I remembered was to make sure there was always some models around Vlad1 so my opponent would not be able to surround Vlad1 with too many Gatormen since they are all on medium sized bases. My Doom Reavers did a lot of damage and were doing a great job at taking out the Gatormen which isn’t easy to do. Armor bonuses for being in melee stacked with Spiny Growth makes them on par with a Khador Warjack’s armor. Ridiculous! Topped with Maelok’s ability to bring back warrior units, it can be a real nightmare to deal with for some forces. My opponent was able to pull over 2 major assassination attempts but he rolled very poorly even with his COLD BLOOD ability which allowed them to re-roll each failed attack. I on the other hand was rolling crazy good when it came to damage during one of my turns, but it was the turn that mattered the most. I ended up using Vlad1’s feat and having the Behemoth walk 8″ up to Maelok and who then pounded him using the Armor Piercing fists. A caster with a medium base? Yes please! This was a really intense game and could have gone either way, but alas the dice gods did not favor my opponent that day. Just remember kiddies, Gators hate WEAPON MASTERS 🙂

TOURNAMENT SUMMARY…

After all the scoring was done I ended up getting 2nd place! I was pleased just being able to pull out a win against the Blindwater Congregation. Anyways this format was super fun I totally encourage you to try it out. I am definitely looking forward to more non-standard Steamroller events like this in the future!

Battle Report 048-052 > Journeyman League – Month 1…

The day of reckoning has arrived at our LGS and the our Journeyman league had a awesome turn out! I was able to get in 5 games, so here’s some brief battle reports of the games. Again, brought my camera but totally forgot to take pics. Bad me.

My list…

  • Bloody Barnabas (+6)
  • Blackhide Wrastler – 9pts
  • Ironback Spitter – 8pts

ROUND 1 – BLINDWATER vs MERCENARIES

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Realising the power of the Ironback Spitter’s AOE corrosive spit
  • Blackhide Wrastler double-hand throwing a warjack into a swamp pit extinguishing it’s furnace

IN SUMMARY…WIN!
Oh Swamp Pits…how I love thee. It’s always nice to see the reaction of an opponent’s face when they realize it completely shuts down their ranged combat. Naughty me. The mistake I feel my opponent made was being to passive and using a forest for cover when he had 2 jacks that had reach and could have easily alpha striked me pretty hard. I ended up using Barnabas’ feat and following up with a couple swamp pits to hopefully throw a warjack into it while dishing out normal attacks on the other while it was knocked down. Luckily the throw didn’t deviate outside of the Swamp Pit. It’s moments like this that show me how cool WarmaHordes is with it’s Power Attack options. I love it!

ROUND 2 – BLINDWATER vs KHADOR

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Getting the alpha strike on both his jacks and crippling almost all their systems
  • My opponent going balls out and putting the game on the line with Butcher1 charging Barnabas

IN SUMMARY…LOSS!
Alright so this one is totally all my fault. I wasn’t happy enough with crippling all of his warjack’s systems and got greedy. I charged in with Barnabas and was hoping to box one of the warjacks but couldn’t. I also casted the wrong spell on myself. I should have casted Iron Flesh but instead casted the Ornery Animus. Why? I have no idea LOL. So my opponent moved his jack out of the way and bet the house on Butcher1’s charge. He made it and proceeded to make himself some crocodile skin boots with Lola. I should have just sat back with my caster since his warjacks were in pretty bad shape and just finished them off next round. If I would have killed off that warjack he would’ve created a patch of rough terrain in the charge lane of the Butcher1 and would not have been able to reach me. Oh wells…Live and learn! PATIENCE GRASSHOPPER!

ROUND 3 – BLINDWATER vs CRYX

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Goreshade1’s feat…nuff said

IN SUMMARY…LOSS!
This was a tough one. I knew the unit of Bane Thralls would be coming…BUT WHEN!? Surprisingly I survived them and was able to counter and kill most of them off. Alas it was still not enough and he was able to eventually kill all my beasts. Game over maaaan! There wasn’t too much I could do here since there was a unit of 6 weapons masters around to tie up and distract my 3 models lol. I will get my revenge at the 25 point level, THIS I SWEAR!!!

ROUND 4 – BLINDWATER vs EVERBLIGHT

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Ironback Spitter sniping his Shredder
  • Baranbas counter-charging a assassination attempt by the Raek
  • Both my heavies immediately dispatching the revived Scythean under Thagrosh1’s feat

IN SUMMARY…WIN!
This was my first Hordes match of the day…finally. My opponent had his beasts come in at different times so I able to deal with them more easily than if they all hit together. I tend to forget Barnabas has counter-charge but I remembered this time and it was pretty awesome. You really don’t see too many Warlocks/Warcasters with that ability and I’m only used to it with my Khador Wardog. Overall I was able to fight everything 2 vs 1 since I kept all my models pretty close to each other. Later on I found out that Thagrosh1 can’t revive models that are “Removed From Play”. I’m not used to having models that offer a ability that triggers that so I learned something new. YAY!

ROUND 5 – BLINDWATER vs CRYX

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • My opponent was under points..meh

IN SUMMARY…WIN!
My 2nd match against a different Cryx player. My opponent purposely went under points in order to be able to run a unit in the 15 point phase of the Journeyman League so he was underpowered a bit. I pretty much knocked down everything I could using Barnabas feat and dealt with his Stalker early on. It was a clean victory, nothing too fancy here. On a side note, this opponent has a knack for rolling horribad when it counts the most. It was to the point where I offered him to roll my dice instead lol.

Overall I was happy with my performance for being new to the Hordes Fury mechanic as well as a new army that plays very different from Khador. I had a blast learning to use my Gators! I went 3-2 so…

Journeyman League Gaming Points: 13

Battle Report 037-038 > Casual Steam Roller Scenario…

I decided to use my opponent’s reports of the battles since he did a awesome job of summarizing them 🙂

Both games were played were using Steamroller Scenario #4 “Gaining Ground” which has 3 zones. You get 0 points for controlling the zone closest to you, 1 for the middle zone and 2 points for the zone furthest away. Both games were Khador vs Circle Orboros.

Battle 037 Highlights – pVlad vs Mohsar

  • Basically I deployed in the corner & Khador deployed centrally…which was 60% of my downfall the other 40% was not playing aggressively enough
  • My opponent advanced up, but due to my deployment and I had pretty bad charge lanes from the corner, so I did not have very many options to deal with the Khador forces
  • Khador basically walked up & took out my units one by one
  • I had a last ditch effort to use Sands Of Fate on models blocking his caster to try a assassination run, but my spray either did not hit or Khador made their tough rolls (They made like 80% of his tough rolls this game lol!)
  • Khador wins by scenario!
  • My dice fail was pretty horrible this game…80% of my rolls were under 6 & I managed to roll snake eyes twice in a row

My opponent was kind enough to humor me with another game.

Battle 038 Highlights – pVlad vs Mohsar

  • Deployed centrally this time
  • Tharn Bloodtrackers ran up too far & eventually got picked off by Widowmakers, but not before killing a couple Doomreavers
  • Megalith whacked a couple Widowmakers
  • Stalker cleared out the Great Bears, Doomreavers, & Behemoth…that guy is nuts…and got skewered the following turn by pVlad hopped up on Blood Of Kings
  • Shifting Stones teleported up to capture the zone furthest from me for 2 points
  • Opponent is unable to assassinate Mohsar and I win by scenario thanks to the Shifting Stones!

What I learned…

  • Need more practice with timed rounds
  • Need more practice estimating how much fury I’ll be using so I know how much needs to be generated
  • Need to use Tharn Bloodtrackers better
  • BE MORE AGGRESSIVE!! I need to be always looking for the alpha strike with Circle Orboros!

Thanks again for the games & tips!

Anthony

Battle Report 18-20 > 25pt Mangled Metal/Tooth & Claw Steamroller…

I finally got to play my first Mangled Metal tournament and I was really excited since I know this is where The Butcher shines! You were given the option to make 2 lists so I chose pButcher and pSorscha as my casters. Sorry again for no pics!

Here were my 2 lists…

  • The Butcher of Khardov (pButcher)
  • Beast-09
  • 2 x Berserkers
  • Kodiak
  • Kommander Sorscha (pSorscha)
  • Beast-09
  • 2 x Berserkers
  • Juggernaut

ROUND 1 – KHADOR vs RETRIBUTION OF SCYRAH

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • pSorscha surviving after a ridiculous assassination attempt (i.e. I should have DIED)

IN SUMMARY…WIN!!!

Wow. This battle was pretty epic. My jacks had no problems dealing with his crafty elven jacks and it came down to his caster Garryth making a assassination attempt on pSorscha. I had dealt with most of his jacks and at this point even Beast-09 was free to roam  around. I moved him back to pSorscha to help protect her but alas I was too late. He was able to get into melee with full focus so he could load up on attacks and boosts. Now this is where it gets crazy! So the dice FAILED him epically and he was only able to get 2 attacks in but he rolled just shy of killing her and she had 3 wounds left. So the “mage hunter/weapon master/focus on armor don’t mean nothing” failed miserably. I felt sorry for the guy. So for my turn I kept my focus and decided to just keep pounding my hammer on him. Basically, on the last bought attack I rolled exactly the number I needed to kill him. If I was 1 short he would’ve lived and definitely killed me off. So this battle goes down in my mental history book of “WTF!?!? That just happened!” moments. This was one of the most intense and fun battles I ever had in Warmachine so far 🙂

ROUND 2 – KHADOR vs CIRCLE ORBOROS

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • Surviving yet ANOTHER caster assassination attempt

IN SUMMARY…WIN!!!

This was my first time playing against this many beasts from Hordes. For this match I decided to try out pButcher. My opponent was using pKaya. One of his warbeasts was able to counter charge and finish off one of my Berserkers early in the game and I was a bit worried. After all was said and done Beast-09’s Thresher came through like a champ and was my equalizer and I was able to take out 2 of his bigger warbeasts. He didn’t have anything left and his last attempt was to use his teleporting spell to try and assassinate pBtucher. At this point he only had his caster and light warbeast that came with her. So he was able to get into melee but pButcher was sitting on full focus and he wasn’t able to penetrate his 24 Armor. Needless to say the Butcher destroyed him the next turn. I found out later that he shouldn’t  have been able to teleport and attack. You could in MKI but was taken away in MKII. I’ll be sure to let him know next time I see him ;p

ROUND 3 – KHADOR vs CRYX

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BATTLE

  • My opponent’s usage of the caster eSkarre chaining enough Great Rack attack to push her way into melee with my caster

IN SUMMARY…LOSS!!!

For the final round I thought this would be very interesting. Since Cryx are known for having the saucy arc nodes to keep casting all kinds of spells from a safe distance. Jack to jack he held off pretty nicely but I eventually was able to take out or cripple everything. I didn’t exactly place pButcher in a great spot and should have had him a little further from the battle since I was winning it with my jacks. A lane opened up for my opponent and he was able to charge a jack and keep pushing it back until he got within melee of the Butcher and went to town on him. I didn’t have any focus left and he successfully killed him off. Really awesome comeback of him since he almost had nothing left. Really awesome game regardless!

After all the scoring and points were added up I actually got 2nd place! WOOHOO!!! I was surprised and happy of course since I have only been playing Warmachine since January. Can’t wait for more tournaments! This was a definite motivation booster knowing I can make money to pay for the hobby. WICKED SON!

Battle Report 15-17 > 50pt. Steamroller Event…

I recently played a 50pt steamroller tournament to see how my current painted forces would hold up. Unfortunately I realized after doing some online research that you should usually have a lot more troops than what I was using. Out of the 3 games I played, I ended up with 1 win and 2 losses. Overall it was a eye opening experience and decided I would not try anymore steamrollers at that level until I had way more troops ready to be played. It was my very first time battling at that point level, but now I know what’s up 🙂
